FANNIE LOU HAMER HS: DRESS CODE 

At Fannie Lou Hamer HS, we do not require a uniform, but rather we encourage students to make professional and appropriate choices from their wardrobes. 

Tops- No tank tops, tube tops, halter tops, strapless tops that expose the ladies’ undergarments must be covered by the top or blouse worn. For young men, jerseys and sleeveless shirts are allowed, provided a shirt with sleeves is worn under them. 

Shorts- Shorts that fall within 4 inches of the knee are ok. Short-shorts are not permitted. 

Skirts- Skirts that fall to within 4 inches of the knee are ok. Mini-skirts are not acceptable. 

Hoodies - Hoodies are allowed, but the hood must be down at all times. Students are not allowed to cover their faces.

Jeans and Pants- Jeans and pants must be free of tears and holes, especially in hip area. Pants must be worn at waist level and cover the midriff and undergarments. 

Pajamas, Slippers, etc.- No bedroom attire of any kind is permitted in school. NO PAJAMAS may be worn. See below! 

Students who come to school improperly dressed will be asked to put on something from our gently-used clothing bin that is more suitable. Repeated infractions result in more serious consequences!
